1856-The Musical

In 1856, the Mormon handcart companies rolled west.  Their story is Mormon legend and western history.  The events are an American treasure.  The story is true, powerful and moving.

1856-the Musical is the depiction of this important chapter of testimony, faith, and dedication that has few rivals in Mormon, Western or American history.

Come and experience the unforgettable retelling of the handcart story.  The play has a cast of over 150 people, featuring Joseph Paur (star of “Rigoletto”) who plays Brigham Young.  The play, the music and lyrics are the original work of Cory Ellsworth along with Randy Kartchner and Mildred Packard.  When you combine the true story line with powerful music, lively dance and a large ensemble cast, you have the ingredients of a truly memorable experience.
