Boots Robinson Joins the Old West Dinner Show Adventure By Joan Petersen

He’s performed in Norway. He’s performed in Canada. He’s performed on the radio in Australia. And now he’s joined the performing staff at Showtime Utah.

He’s Boots Robinson, and he’s a cowboy singer and poet who will be taking his turn holding down the musical duties in The Old West Dinner Show Adventure with what he describes as a knee-slappin’, heart-rendin’, and gratifyin’ evening of entertainment.

Michael “Boots” Robinson embodies the spirit of the Old West. He got his start at the internationally famous Elko Cowboy Poetry Gathering where he was nicknamed the “Wordsworth of Cowboy Poetry” because of his love of nature. The musical part of his life came after so many people insisted that he put his poetry to music. By now, he’s a poet of such stature that he’s a four-time winner of the grand prize Silver Buckle at the Western Legends Roundup Cowboy Poetry Rodeo.

As a musician, he’s recorded six albums of both his own music and a long list of Western standards, and that means audiences at Showtime Utah will be in for a treat because he’s usually described as a cross between the Sons of the Pioneers and Willie Nelson and Johnny Cash. He says this makes for an upliftin’, motivatin’, and entertainin’ evening of humor, cowboy philosophy and fine music. Your usual Utah club fare it is not.

Boots is also an unofficial Cowboy Poet/Songwriter of Utah and has toured the state for each of the last six years as part of the Utah Arts Council’s Performing Arts Tour.

The Old West Dinner Show Adventure has also added a couple of new characters to the posse of flamboyant Western eccentrics who already interact with the audience. Our tastefully decadent Saloon Madam along with Parley our crazy old Prospector is being joined by The Sheriff, Sleazy the Gambler, and Miss Jesse.

Boots Robinson and the rest of the gang climb into the saddle every Friday and Saturday evening at 7:00 p.m. at Showtime Utah. The massive chuck wagon dinner is still the same with those mighty tasty biscuits, cornbread, piles of meat, beans, potatoes, cream cheese brownies and the best frosted root beer floats you’ve ever run across. All of it is prepared in our own kitchen by our genuine (and well trained) cowboy chef.
