New Recording is a Model for Emerging Artists

A new song produced as a free download on www.LDSTunesNow.com, serves as an excellent startup career model for emerging artists. It’s called When Thou Carries Me, written by Sara Lyn Baril, and sung by Jenn Ehlert. Both are residents of Raymond, Alberta, Canada.
Sara Lyn Baril completed her own independent cd last year, and has continued to write songs for her next album. When Jenn Ehlert moved into town, they began collaborating, with Jenn singing Sara’s songs in firesides and events. Sara’s excellent accompaniment abilities, and Jenn’s background as a music theater performer complemented each other wonderfully. Though Jenn did not have her own cd, she was able to begin getting herself known to the music industry by recording with Sara, and both were able to lighten the load of appearances and maintain their family lives by cooperating together.
Sara’s song is the free download this month on www.LDSTunesNow. Since Sara is also listed in the music studio directory on www.yourLDSneighborhood.com, her new single appears on www.theneighborhoodjukebox.com. The Jukebox is an online streaming player co-sponsored by the Faith Centered Music Association (Pearl Awards), allowing new singers and song demos to be heard and voted on, giving valuable feedback to the writers and performers. Winners will be produced at the end of the year on a Best of the Neighborhood Cd at no cost to the vocalists or writers. Top producers in the industry have agreed to listen to the Jukebox to find new material and artists.
The Jukebox will also receive heavy advertising during the upcoming months. Spots will appear on BYU TV, as well as billboards, radio and print ads all summer long. Combined together, a listing in the yourLDSneighborhood.com Music Studio directory gets you a good basic advertising package, as well as the opportunity to put your demo on the Jukebox.
“Finally new artists have a way to break into the industry without spending an arm and a leg.” said Ehlert. “They can get a start and begin building name recognition until they are able to make a cd. It works just like a preview to a movie.”
Membership in the yourLDSneighborhood.com Music Studio Directory costs a minimal $75 a year, including a basic advertising package. This in turn gets your demo on the Jukebox, where songs can be uploaded for $5 a song per month. These modest fees make maintenance of the sites possible. To sign up for the Music Directory at www.yourLDSneighborhood.com, and get your song heard on the Jukebox, call Melane at 801-546-0071. You may then send your mp3’s to Greg Hansen, who will create an account on the Jukebox for you. Finally, you can get heard no matter where you live!
